MISSIONARY EDUCATION WORKSHOP

 

Hamlett Temple C.M.E. Church observed its annual Missionary Education/ Auxiliaries Workshop Saturday morning, June 15, 2002; 9:00 A.M.-12:00 M. Mrs. Ernestine Pierce, president of the usher board served as presiding officer.

Mrs. Yvette B. Owens, local secretary of Spiritual Life and Message, guided the devotional period.   Participants were Mrs. Ola W. Bunnitt, meditation and prayer; Bro.Asara C. Brown, the reading of the Word and Bro. Joshua Boatner, leader of the litany.

Session I included presentations by Dr. Ricky Helton, Rev. G. M. Hamlin and Rev. Louis Boatner who listed the duties of a bishop, presiding elder and pastor respectively.

Mrs. Yvette B. Owens presented the introduction to the missionary study course, RACE AND RECONCILIATION, HEALING THE WOUNDS, WINNING THE HARVEST.

Session II focused on accountability.  In this session, the official staff informed those in attendance of their activities in fulfilling the charges to which they had obligated themselves.

Other workshop participants were Rochelle Owens, Alalia Owens, Ebony Owens, Shalane Johnson and Lamary Brown.

The Hamlett Temple C.M.E. Church Dance Team performed a Liturgical dance. The workshop was highly rated according to responses from the evaluation forms.

In the closing ceremony coordinated by Mrs. Ola W. Bunnitt, local president of the missionary society, the peace and local church missionary society banners were presented by C.Y.F. members as the attendees waved miniature American flags to the singing of America.

In her remarks, Monroe District President Mrs. Carrie Taylor applauded the departments for the remarkable work that they’re doing. She further challenged us to “keep up the good work.”

Mrs. Dorothy Boatner served as timekeeper for the sessions.
